Southend Martial Arts Academy awarded Sports Coach of the Year 2012

Southend's leading Martial Arts Academy's founder awarded Southend Sports coach of the Year 2012. Ozel Osman, father, Karate teacher, and Fitness Trainer, was awarded Southend Sports coach of the Year 2012, in recognition of his efforts in the community.

It's the first time EVER, a Karate coach has been given this award in the borough, and Ozel considers it a great honour and privilege to have received it.

Testimonials from satisfied parents, clients and club members, quoting work Ozel has done with young children, children with learning difficulties and families, were the deciding factor, in the council's decision.

Ozel's Karate Academy, Okami Martial Arts, has been running classes, in local schools and church halls, for the past 4 and a bit years. Feedback from parents, included increased confidence, better focus and attention, not to mention fun innovative classes, for children and adults. Ozel has made it his life ambition to promote the benefits of Karate and fitness, to the community, as a whole, from all walks of life.

In addition to this, Ozel has continued his own personal development, as a coach, mentor and sports person. This has included representing England as a competitor, attending international courses, study holidays, qualifications including Sports Personality of the Year, training in Japan in Karate and training in Thailand in Thai boxing.

Ozel's students have gone on to achieve highly, in other aspects of their lives, academically and otherwise, as Martial Arts discipline and values are transferable skills.

About Southend Okami Martial Arts Academy

Ozel teaches specialist classes for 4-7 year olds (Little Dragons), family classes in the Goju Ryu style of Karate, and personal training for clients' specific needs. Currently, Ozel is enrolling new members at a special introductory offer price of £20 for a 4 week course.
